Marine Science Centre Masterplan

Working with our partners Green Country we developed a masterplan, concepts and content for a brand new visitor attraction at Henqin Ocean Kingdom, Zhuhai China.  We were given the ground floor of a new build  to develop a visitor experience where visitors could explore the worlds water bodies.

 

The floor area was 85,000 square metres and would include integrated aquarium installations throughout. Our concept was linked to the overall building concept of the building actually being a submersible ship that explores the ocean much like Star Trek explores space. We devised a ‘Holodeck’ approach where visitors move through a series of portals to explore a series of diverse environments such as the Mekong River, the Amazon Rainforest, Africa, Coral, Sharks, etc. Each area would have integrated exhibits explaining about that specific ecosystem.
